How pay, time off, and benefits work at Peak, based on BC Employment Standards (safety is WorkSafeBC). For your own situation, ask Matt.
Overtime
Past 8 hours in a day1.5×
Past 12 hours in a day2×
Past 40 hours in a week1.5×
A standard 8:30 to 4:30 day (8 hours, paid lunch) is straight time. Overtime begins once you pass 8 hours in a day or 40 in a week. Daily and weekly overtime are never combined on the same hour, so you always receive whichever is greater.
Statutory holidays
Day off (you don't work it)8 hours pay
You work the stat8 hrs + 1.5×/hr
Work the holiday and you receive 8 hours of pay plus 1.5× for every hour worked (2× past 12 hours in a day), which comes to roughly 2.5× a normal day.
The 11 BC stat holidays
Easter Monday and Boxing Day are not statutory holidays in BC. Past dates this year are crossed out.
Am I eligible for stat pay?
You qualify once you've been employed 30 days and have worked or earned wages on 15 of the 30 days before the holiday. Most full-time crew qualify; if you're new or part-time, check with Matt. Before you qualify, hours worked on a holiday are paid at regular time, with no premium.
Vacation
Under 5 years here2 weeks · 4% pay
After 5 years here3 weeks · 6% pay
Vacation pay is that percentage of everything you earn, paid on every cheque rather than held back. Because it's paid as you go, the vacation time you take after your first year has already been paid through the year.
Sick days
Paid sick days5 / year
Unpaid sick days3 / year
That's 8 job-protected sick days a year (5 paid, 3 unpaid). Both become available after your first 90 days with Peak. They reset each January 1 and don't carry over. Let Matt know as early as you can if you'll be off sick.
Breaks
Your 30-minute lunch break is paid at Peak, so you stay on the clock and don't clock out for it. That's better than the BC minimum, which is an unpaid 30 minutes after 5 hours of work. If you're ever asked to work through lunch, you're still owed the full 30 minutes, so let Matt know.
There's also a 15-minute coffee break. It's unpaid and not required by law. The standard at Peak is to skip it and keep working. You're welcome to take it, but because it's unpaid, those 15 minutes get added to the end of your day.
Getting paid
Pay scheduleEvery 2 weeks · Friday
Paid by direct deposit every two weeks on Friday, covering the prior two-week period. Your paystub itemizes hours, rate, gross, deductions, and vacation pay. Your hours from past periods are under Archived pay periods on the Other tab.
Safety on the job
Injured at work? Report it right away.
Report any injury to your lead and Matt immediately, even a minor one. All injuries have to be reported to WorkSafeBC. You also have the legal right to refuse unsafe work, and you cannot be penalized for it. When in doubt, stop and call.

Use van stock
Log material pulled from the van for a job. No receipt needed — this
records the usage so billing can charge it out.
Seacan inventory isn't ready yet
The Seacan stock list hasn't been built out — there's nothing to pick from in here yet.
Talk to Matt when he's got the inventory loaded in.

Track your time
Tap Clock In, pick a job, get to work. Recent jobs show up as one-tap chips so you're not scrolling every time. The day rolls up automatically — just approve before midnight.
Find your jobs
Jobs tab shows every active project with Street View, address, and labels. Sort by distance to find the closest, tap "Get directions" to launch nav, or open the contact card to call the client.
Receipts + van stock
Snap a receipt to push it straight to billing — fuel receipts auto-log your KM and litres for fleet tracking. Or use "Van stock" to log material pulled from the van without a receipt.
Vehicle & tools
Once a month on Monday, the Vehicle tab nudges you to log your KM and fluid check — takes 30 seconds. Service history is right there too. Tools tab tracks who's holding what.
Time off + offline
Use "Request time off" at the bottom of the Time tab to submit days off — Matt approves and the calendar updates. And everything works without signal: clock-ins, receipts, van stock all queue and sync when you're back in coverage.
